HSE + HR joint psychosocial uplift
A multi-site operator had EAP access but no stress risk assessment. We framed Management Standards controls, manager coaching and MHFA coverage expectations alongside existing H&S governance.

Service
Definition: Psychosocial risk and MHFA integration applies HSE Management Standards for work-related stress and MHFA England–informed workplace support within H&S governance.
Workplace mental health is part of health and safety. As an MHFA England Mental Health First Aider, we help organisations treat psychosocial risk with the same seriousness as physical hazard control — policies, leadership capability and first-aid response pathways.
UK employers must manage risks to mental health as well as physical health. Many have EAP posters but no risk assessment for stress, no trained responders and no leadership confidence to act early.
UK employers who want a whole-organisation approach to workplace mental health — aligned to HSE guidance and complementary to physical H&S systems.
Scope
Method
01
We look at role design, workload signals, change fatigue, conflict patterns and manager capability — not only absence data.
02
Controls range from leadership norms and role clarity to responder networks and escalation routes.
03
Managers and HSE leaders practise how to notice, ask, listen and signpost — within MHFA-informed boundaries.
04
Psychosocial risk sits in the same governance as other significant risks — reviewed, measured and improved.

UK context — Informed by MHFA England principles and UK HSE guidance on work-related stress. Mental Health First Aid supports early help and signposting — it does not replace professional mental health care, therapy or crisis services.
